On the hunt for the perfect eye cream

Eyes have always been very important to me. When doing my makeup, I always try to emphasize them as much as I can. But my eyes have always been an area of concern. My under-eye area is very dark and blue, and doesn’t really improve with water or sleep. When I was just starting out with makeup I would layer foundation, concealer and powder and it would always end up looking like a cakey mess. Still to this day I haven’t found anything to completely mask the dark blue shade under my eyes but I have found the perfect products to leave the area smooth and cake free.

Kiehl´s Creamy Eye Treatment

I have been using the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream for years now and has helped a lot. It works amazingly well under makeup but the only thing it provides is hydration. Until recently that was enough for me, but now that I have reached my mid-twenties I think it’s time to experiment a bit more with other eye creams that contain antiaging properties.

One day I was feeling particularly adventurous and decided to buy the Kiehl´s Creamy Eye Treatment and the Origins Age-Defense Eye Cream with White Tea.

First I bought the Origins eye cream mainly because it contains spf 20 and that is something that you rarely see in eye creams. I was a week away from my trip to Mallorca and I thought it was the perfect timing. The eye cream contains antioxidant-rich white tea and edelweiss which is know to protect against pollution and UV.
From first application I wasn’t impressed with the product, the formula is very dry and made my concealer cake up like crazy. After a few days I tried layering it over a more hydrating eye cream and it worked wonders.

Origins Age-Defense Eye Cream with White Tea

The Kiehls Creamy Eye Treatment is one I wanted to try out for a while as it has really positive online reviews. This eye cream contains avocado oil, Beta-carotene which is an antioxidant and shea antioxidant.
I found this eye cream very think and nourishing, it sinks in very quickly into the skin so it doesn’t leave the area feeling oily. At first I thought this cream was to thick to use in the morning and I was worried how it would perform under makeup. I still think that the Bobbi Brown works slightly better under makeup but this one does have more benefits to it.

Kiehl´s Creamy Eye Treatment

I am currently layering both eye creams and I’m very happy with the end result. It is still to early down the line to say if I will repurchase both items, as it is an expensive combination but I think the Origins eye cream will be with me at least through spring and summer.

  6. I have the usual problems: Dark circles, fine lines, aging in general. And I haven´t found the perfect eye cream either. But I enjoy one with retinol, helps with the lines a lot.

  7. I must admit I have never purchased any eye cream because of never having to deal with dark circles, puffiness, or wrinkles. My Mom doesn't have them either and she in in her mid sixties. So I'm crossing my fingers that I will have the same luck. These do seem like good buys though.

  8. I've never tried an under eye treatment in the past mainly because I'm still 17, but due to all the workload, I definitely need some of what you've purchased. The Khiel's one sounds great, but I've heard a lot of good stuff about the cream from Benefit too. Nice post x

  9. Beautiful photo's! I never used to really bother with eye cream, it's only been in the past year that I've realised how important it probably is and the earlier I start looking after the under-eyes the better! (I'd rather not have wrinkles by the time I'm 30), I've heard some really great things about the Khiel's eye cream & I'm usually never disappointed with Origins product's so I may have to check that one out, but watch out for the caking underneath concealer! I've been loving Wonder Eye Cream by Balance Me, it leaves a lovely refreshing feeling on my under eyes in the mornings and dries pretty quickly, sits perfectly underneath make up and I've found it actually helps to set my under eye concealer too! Lovely post :-)

  13. Thanks for your review! I had been considering that Origins one, so it's good to know what results you've had. Like you, I have such issues with my eyes (mostly puffiness). I just started using (read: today) the Elemental Herbology Eye Elixir and so far I love it. A bit on the pricey side, but I ended up getting two free other products with it, so you *can* get a good deal. Thanks again for the post! :o)

  16. I find that eye cream is the HARDEST product to get right. I've yet to find one that has made any noticeable different to dark eye circles and puffiness... Thanks for the Origins suggestions, I think this will be my next eye cream to try!

  18. I only started using eye cream when I hit 30 and now I know the importance of it. I have fine lines and wrinkles and the eye area must always be moisturized. I am currently using two eye creams in rotation.xx
