Battle of the cleansing devises: Why I chose Foreo Luna over Clarisonic

When I finally decided that I wanted to buy some sort of cleansing device I had a bit of a dilemma. I was undecided weather I wanted to buy the Clarisonic or the Foreo Luna. Both products are similar in price, I research high and low until I decided that the Foreo Luna was the one for me.

Foreo Luna

How does the Foreo Luna work? When you turn on the device it will begin to emit T-Sonic pulsations, which basically consists in tiny vibrations targeted to loosen the dirt inside your pores helping to achieve a deeper cleanse while being gentle on the skin. This device is meant to be used for 1 minute. After the minute has passed if you press the middle button again the device will go into anti-aging mode. This time you use the back of the devise that has concentric silicone ridges that emit lower frequency pulsations.

Foreo Luna

But what sets the Foreo Luna apart from the Clarisonic?

Appropriate for daily use: The Foreo Luna is gentle enough to use twice a day even if you have very sensitive skin. The Clarisonic can be a bit harsher especially on sensitive skin because of the friction caused by the bristles.

Battery life: The Foreo Luna has an incredible battery life, it claims to last up to 7 months but mine lasted for more than a year before I had to re-charge it. The Clarisonic can last for about 20 days.

Ergonomics: The Foreo Luna is light and easy to hold. The Clarisonic does come with a handle but its much heavier.

Hygiene: The Foreo Luna is made of utra-hygienic silicone, which is nonporous to resist bacteria buildup. The Clarisonic is made out of nylon bristles which is much prone to bacteria build up.

Value: The Foreo Luna is similar in price to the Clarisonic but what mostly differentiates both devices is the fact that you don’t have to buy replacement heads for the Foreo. While with the Clarisonic, you are meant to replace the head every three months. Clarisonic brush heads start from £21.

Speed: The standard Clarisonic has two speeds while the Foreo Luna has 12 customisable intensities.

Extra: The Foreo Luna also has a anti-aging mode while the Clarisonic doesn’t.

Foreo Luna play

Are you thinking of buying the Foreo Luna but your scared of investing in something you might not like? Why not try the Foreo Luna Play, its only £29 and you can get 100 uses out of it.

Hope this has helped you if you’re on the fence about which devise is better suited to your skin and needs. If you have any questions I´m happy to help!

  2. I bought Foreo Luna finally! I have been using my Olay Pro-X since 2013 and was never interested in Clarisonic but the anti-aging mode has me intrigued about Foreo Luna. Recently Sephora had Foreo Luna last year holiday kit on sale and it comes with 3 full size Boscia products so I bought one set for myself. It should arrive next week so I'm looking forward to using it.

  3. I used to love my Clarisonic, but I swore off all of these devices after seeing some microscopic pictures of skin after using them. Too much micro damage, no matter the device.

  5. I can definitely see how this would be more gentle than a Clarisonic, since I can't use mine daily without damaging my skin. It sounds like a super interesting device x

  18. I've never used a cleansing device before, but I'd love to try one, they seem fab! The Foreo one definietly seems like a better choice, especially since they're both similarly priced I think I'd go for that one, also. My skin is quite sensitive so the Clairsonic one would be a little harsh for me, I think. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! <3 xoxo

  19. I owned a Clarisonic for years, and I slowly stopped using it because I felt like it was a bit harsh for my skin. My skin always felt tight and dry after using it. I will definitely look into getting the Luna to compare the two and see if it's a better fit for my skin. Thank you for sharing :)

    1. After cleansing my face feels really soft but never dry and tight. The one I have is for combination skin, but they also to a version for sensitive skin and normal skin.

  20. I might buy it for the battery life alone, that's insane! I have been meaning to check it out because I had no idea how it works, how it is supposed to be used etc. so thank you for this post! I know everyone seems to have fallen in love with it, so it is on my list of things to try next year especially as it sounds so much less fiddly than the Clarisonic. Thank you for sharing Vanessa, hope you're well xxx
