Spending a day in Richmond Park

Richmond Park

I have lived in London all my life but strangely enough I don’t think I have ever visited Richmond Park, at least not that I can remember. Last weekend as we were blessed with amazing weather we decided to take a day trip to Richmond.

Richmond Park

I am a city girl at heart but I do love being in green areas, London can be very grey and it’s nice to leave that behind from time to time. Richmond park is one of London’s eight Royal Parks and covers an area of 2500 acres. The main thing that makes Richmond stand out from the rest of Royal parks is the fact that they have deer that roam freely through the park. I didn’t know this before I planned the trip but from May to July deer give birth to their young therefore you may get to see baby deer, which is the cutest thing ever!

Spot the deer!

On that day, they decided to take a stroll near the road and I was able to take these amazing shots of them. I didn’t go near them as you should keep a respectful distance and try not to startle them to much. I was extremely happy that I got to see these amazing animals up close. Society now or days don’t have any respect for animals and think they can use them like possession or objects, I couldn’t be more against that. I think we should all try to treat animals as our equals and protect and speak up form them as they don’t have a voice or a say in their life.

Richmond Park

The park itself is breathtaking, it has two small ponds which are ideal to have a picnic next too. I also love the fact that as the park is quite big and its not situated in central London in doesn’t feel too overcrowded. It’s just ideal to relax and enjoy the warmer months.

  7. Richmond park is the pretties I've come across for sure.

I went to uni in Kingston, and we'd always trek through the park. Did you see the hollow trees, the ones that lived through a great fire years ago? And the greenhouse is so pretty, but I'd suggest going in there with someone that knows the place well, because we got lost and stung by nettles.

    It was great fun!

  9. Deer are so cute! I had no idea there was a park in (or near) London that had free-roaming deer! And I'm totally the same, definitely a city girl at heart but sometimes it feels amazing to spend the day in a national park or just outdoors and in nature because being in the city all the time can get overwhelming.

  15. I am terribly grateful to my parents for moving to Richmond (long after I moved out, but I get to visit!) as Richmond Park is one of my favourite places in the world! A few weeks ago I took my two year old niece for a walk - she fell asleep in the buggy just as a whole herd of deer pretty much surrounded us. It was amazing, but I felt so guilty she slept through it!
