Benefit is all about the brows

Benefit has recently re-launched and revamped their eyebrow collection.
They have increased their eyebrow products and made a lot of noise in the process.

Benefit Gimme Brow, Goof Proof Brow Pencil, Ready Set Brows

Before Cara Delavigne came out with her amazing eyebrows, not many makeup brands had to many products to cater to our eyebrow needs. Brows were a bit forgotten when actually they basically frame our entire face.

Benefit already had some eyebrow products on the market and also offered eyebrow waxing in their makeup counters.

Now they have decided to ump their brow game and have come up with 10 brow products for all of us to enjoy!
Their entire collection has a certain space age feel to it, its not particularly appeling to me, but hey! if the product inside is good the packaging isn’t going to put me off.

I have three pieces of the collection to show you:

First I have the Goof Proof Brow Pencil: This is an angled eyebrow pencil similar to the Anastasia Beverley Hills and Hourglass eyebrow pencil. What is particularly different about this pencil is that it comes in a diamond shape, so it’s a bit wider in the middle than in the tips. I have to say I wasn’t really wowed by this product; the diamond shape makes it a bit difficult to be precise unless your very careful or have particularly thick brows. I don’t think it’s a bad product, don’t get me wrong! But you do need to be a bit careful when applying it. I don’t think it’s a good on the go product.

The Goof Proof Brow Pencil pictured bellow is a travel size, the full size is longer and comes with a spoolie and retails for £18.50.

Then we have Gimme Brow, this is a tinted brow gel. It does a decent job at making your eyebrows look thicker, so I do think it’s a great product to use when you don’t have much time to do your makeup. It sets your eyebrows in place without making them “crunchy” but if you have long eyebrows like me you will have that odd hair that will stick out. The hold isn’t that strong but that might be a plus for you depending on what you like and it gives your brows a slight matte finish. I really like the small applicator, it lets you be precise when applying the product.

And finally I have Ready, Set, Brows, this is basically cement for your eyebrows. It’s a clear brow gel with a double sided applicator. On one side it has shorter bristles and longer bristles in the other, perfect for short and long haired girls out there (or boys!)
Your eyebrows will stay tamed all day long with this product. Unlike Gimme Brow this gel isn’t matte but isn’t too glossy either.

Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks

I´ve never been a big fan of gel eye shadows, I think you can achieve more interesting looks with classical powder eye shadows. But none the less, I have to admit that gel eye shadows are easier and quicker to apply. Lately they are becoming a thing, more and more brands are coming up with them either in stick form or in little pots, and there are great choices out there.

Lately I have herd many people rave about the Laura Mercier caviar sticks, so I finally caved in and gave them a go. Here I have the Matte to Metal Collection, unfortunately it was limited edition and you can no longer get your hands on one, but the shades in this kit are part of their permanent collection and you can buy them full size.

These eye shadows are extremely pigmented and don’t crease. They blend beautifully with fingers but you can also use a brush if you wish to. Once the shadow dries that’s it, it stays on all day! Its incredibly long lasting. These sticks are extremely easy to use. For those of you that don’t like to faf around with makeup but still want a little something, these sticks are a great option.
The shade names are on point; they are very descriptive you can practically guess the colour by just reading the name. None the less I will attempt to describe them a little more.

  • Sugar Frost: Shimmery metallic pinky gold
  • Rose Gold: Metallic rose gold/copper shade
  • Amethyst: Metallic brown with a hint of dark purple
  • Khaki: Slightly metallic brown with a hint of green
  • Ganache: Matte chocolate brown
  • Aubergine: Matte dark plum

These caviar sticks retail for £22

Marc Jabocs Lolita Palette

Yes, I admit it. I am a sucker for neutral eye shadow palettes! I don’t know what it is but they fascinate me. I have been eyeing up the Marc Jacobs Lolita palette for quite a while until I decided to take the plunge.

The packaging is super sleek and sophisticated, I really love its design. The palette is travel friendly and also comes with a travel pouch. The clasp on my palette came broken, so I advise you to check it before you buy it.
The shades aren’t the most pigmented eyeshadows I have come across, it does take some building up. They blend well but it has far too much fall out, especially the middle shade. The middle eyeshadow is my least favourite, I really don’t like it, it has chunky pieces of glitter and no colour pay of. The rest of the shadows are all right.
All in all, it’s a good palette but not a great palette. You can find better quality eyeshadow palettes for a lower price. I kind of expected more from it to justify its price. Have you tried this palette, what do you think?

Welcome to my little corner on the internet

It has been a long time since I wrote a blog post and a lot has changed since then. I have still been reading and watching my favourite bloggers/youtubers but I haven’t felt the motivation to do something myself. I often think how incredibly lucky they are to be doing what their doing and earning a living doing something they love.

I do think some sort of luck is involved in their success, but I also know that without their hard work and dedication they wouldn’t have gotten to were they are.

My aim is not to earn a living out of blogging but I would love to become part of the blogging community and be proud of what I can contribute. But I know that if I don’t keep at it and work hard this will never happen. I haven’t been constant since I started writing blog post a year ago, sometimes life has gotten in the way and sometimes it has been my own doubts and insecurities that have convinced me to stop. I don’t have the best camera, or the best, blogging or editing skills and I surely don’t have the best writing skills so how can I compete with the other bloggers and engage with an audience and build-up a following? But I have realised that I am not competing with anybody, everybody is different and has a different space in this community. I know I am not the most skilled at this but then again no one is when they start something new. So I am just going to try my best and use this little space to escape from everyday life and share with you one of the few things that I feel passionate about in life, and that is makeup.

I have created this new blog hoping to start on a clean slate. Hope you enjoy being part of my little world and don’t hesitate to interact with me and give me your feedback.
