Winter Make-up Bag Staples

I do tend to switch up my makeup quite regularly, specially when the seasons change. Lately I have been wearing the same look daily. I really love natural looking skin, golden eye and a trusty winged liner. These are the products I use:

makeup staples

Base:

  • Dior Diorskin Forever Foundation: I have been obsessed with this for months. I really love its medium coverage and natural finish. If you want to know more about this foundation she my review here.

  • Bobbi Brown corrector in light to medium bisque: This is a great corrector to counter act dark circles. But you do have to be careful and use it sparingly as it can cake-up. I recommend to use a good moisturizing eye cream with it, and if you have very dry skin I wouldn’t recommend it for you.

  • Maybelline The Eraser Eye Concealer: This is a great drugstore concealer, I layer it up on top of the Bobbi Brown corrector and blend. I really like how it helps to brighten the under eye area.

  • Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer: Another great drugstore concealer. This one is a bit more brightening. I only use it when by dark circles are quite bad. I layer it up on top of the Maybelline concealer in a V shape and blend it using a beauty blender.

  • Hourglass Ambient lighting palette in Surreal Light: I won´t go on about this too much as it’s the only thing I have been talking about for months. I have been using this palette daily, specially the blush in Surreal Glow and the highlighter in Surreal strobe light. I also sometimes use the Bronzer in Surreal Bronze light. It definitely helps beat the winter dull face some of us tend to have around this time of year. Check out my review here.

  • Sun Beam Benefit: I also like adding an extra subtle bronzy glow to lighten up my complexion. I really like this highlighter, it works just as good in summer and in winter.

Eyes:

  • Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette: I love neutral eye palettes and I do have quite a lot in my collection. I have been using the Chocolate Bar palette quite a lot recently because of its rich warm tone browns. It also has love golden shades, excellent for this time of year.

  • Rimmel Glam´Eyes Liquid Liner: I have been using this liner for years. I love it for its fine and flexible nib. It doesn’t have a felt-tip, the applicator is made out of thin hairs, very similar to the ones you can find in a nail polish or on an eye brush. The hairs are perfectly shaped into a fine point helping with a precise application.

  • Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara: This is a very black and volumising mascara, it also gives nice separation and length. This is the only one I have been using since I tried it a few months back. You do have to be a bit careful, to many coats can give you clumpy lashes. In my opinion two coats are enough to give you nice long and volumised lashes.

  • Benefit Gimme Brow Brow Gel: Benefit has really upped their brow game with the re-vamping of their brow range. This little brow gel is perfect when you don’t really have too much time to spend on your brows. It does a good job a filling in the gaps and making your brows stay in place. Review here.

Spring Lilies Christmas Gift Guide

Christmas is coming and everyone knows it. Christmas shopping can be quite stressful therefore I decided to pick my top 10 Christmas gifts. These are all gifts that I would absolutely love to receive and though you might like them to.

Christmas gift guide

Christmas gift guide

H&M is really killing it with their home section, I can always find gorgeous and very inexpensive home-ware I would love to buy. This mug is no exception. It´s so simple but so beautiful at the same time. I really am a sucker for gold foil details.

2      2. Monica Vinader rose gold and blue lace agate bracelet £195. I know, this is a pricey one, but a girl can dream right? I bought my mother the Silver and turquoise version for her birthday and I feel in love with it ever since. I just love how delicate and beautiful it is.

3     3.  Candle in pineapple shaped ceramic holder £4.99 from H&M. Another H&M gem, there is something about a white ceramic pineapple that calls to me, I just love them! This one comes with a candle inside perfect for those cozy nights in.

4      4.  Layla Rose gold on-ear headphones from Frends £159.99. I’m not a big headphones fan but this one is absolutely beautiful. Perfect for any tech loving girl you would like to spoil.

5     5.  Zoeva Rose Golden Luxury set Vol.2 £65.00. Last year I bought the eyeshadow-brush version of this and absolutely loved it (review coming soon). Zoeva does amazing quality brushes for a fraction of the price. This set is amazing and even though it might look pricey, you are getting 3 face brushes, 4 eyeshadow brushes, a brow brush and a makeup bag for £65. Without taking into consideration the cost of the makeup bag you would be paying £ 8.13 for each brush, that crazy! Absolutely recommend this for beauty lovers.

6     6.  This Works Dream To Sleep £30. Why not give someone you love the gift of a goods night rest? I think this is an ideal gift for new parents or stressed out students.

7     7. Foreo Luna 2 £169.00. This is also a pricey item but it´s definitely worth it. I have the first version of the Foreo Luna and use it daily. It is the best cleansing device I have ever used, gentle enough to use daily but also potent enough for a deep cleanse. If you would like to see a review let me know. There is a 25% discount on the Foreo website until 30/11/2016 so if your planning on being a Foreo cleansing device now is the time.

8     8. White lavender candle from the White Company £ 20.00. The White Company have lovely candles that aren’t too expensive. They have a good selection of scents, there is bound to be something for everyone. The White Company also have 20% discount to all their products until Monday the 28th November.

9     9. Emma Hardie Amazing Face Merrily Moringa £15. My favourite cleansing balm by far! It´s very gentle with the eyes and very effective at removing make-up and it comes in a cute little bauble! It´s a great little stocking filler or tree decoration. It is also a good size if you just want to try the product without committing to the full size one.

1      10.  Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – Surreal Light £69. I can not rave more about this palette, it has complete taken over my Instagram pics and my makeup bag. It´s a pricey palette but definitely worth it. If you want to see a review, click here.

Let me know what what’s on top of your Christmas wishlist.

Gel manicure at home with Sensational

When I have freshly manicured nails I instantly feel happier. Painting your nails takes time and effort (and money if your getting it done at a salon) so my heart brakes when I get a chip and it has only been a couple of days since I painted them.

Sensationail gel kit review

For that reason, I have gotten gel manicures in the past. I love how long they last and how nice they look, what I don’t like is the price I have to pay to get them done.
That’s why I was intrigued when gel nail kits appeared on the market.

Sensationail gel kit review

I decided to buy the Gel Starter Kit from Sensationail, specifically for the one that comes with the raspberry wine nails polish as burgundy nails are a must for me in autumn.
This kit contains a gel cleanser, gel primer, gel colour, gel base & top coat, lint-free wipes, a double sided nail buffer, manicure sticks a LED lamp and as a bonus it also comes with nail shields.

Sensationail gel kit review

The LED lamp has improved form their previous version, it now cures the base and top coat in 15 seconds while curing the gel colour in 30 seconds. It also has an automatic sensor turning on when it detects that your fingers are inside, it gives you a 15 second warning and it turns off after 30 seconds. It also comes with a removable plate for pedicures.

The application is quite simple and the kit comes with a step by step instructions.
The hard part comes when you want to remove the nail polish as it isn’t as easy as removing normal nails polish.
In order to eliminate gel nail polish you need to submerge your nails in acetone for 15 minutes and then scrape the polish off. If you’re not careful you can really damage your nails.

After 3 weeks

Sensationail claims to last up to 2 weeks of damage proof wear. I started to see small chips after a week, straight after I had a bath and washed my hair. The chips weren’t extremely visible but I know they were there.

Sensationail Sugar Plum Dragees gel polish

All in all, I am happy with the Sensationail Gel kit I have bought an extra nail polish and I´m considering buying their polish to gel transformer. The Gel transformer lets you turn any nail polish into a gel polish. Not sure how well that will work but I´ll keep you posted!
