Fresh Start Box from My Little Box

I’m sure you are well aware of what subscription boxes are. In the past I have been a Birchbox subscriber but after a year I decided to unsubscribe as I didn’t really see the point to it. I ended up receiving practically the same thing every month and I wasn’t really using-up any of the products. Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy it in the beginning, thanks to Birchbox I discovered Rituals and have been in love with the brand ever since, but at the end I wasn’t really excited about receiving my monthly box.

My Little Box is quite similar to other beauty boxes, the unique thing about this one is its French vibe adding lifestyle products into the mix. I thought it was a nice concept and decided to give it a try.

The theme to January 2017 My Little Box is “Fresh Start”.
Who hasn’t thought about having a fresh start in January right?

This month’s box didn’t exactly come in a box, all the products came in this lovely maxi pouch which I love. I love the design and the size of the pouch, I can see myself using to store little bits and bobs.

The timeless planner Spring Lilies

What I was most excited about was receiving the Timeless planner. If you regularly read my blog you might know by know that I am just a bit planner/stationary obsessed. As the name suggests this is a un dated planner, it doesn’t have the days set up. Each page is a whole week and its designed for you to do a weekly to do list, set up your priorities and goals for the week. It also has inspiring quotes and sections were you can work on your mindfulness.

The box also come with a sample of the Garnier Ultimate Blends Honey Treasure hair mask. I have already tried this hair mask before, it’s a nice product, I wouldn’t say its my favourite hair mask but it is a great drugstore buy.

Sweet Hand Cream by My Little Beauty. My little box also has an in house brands and normally feature their products in their boxes. This hand cream has a really soft and fresh scent, it has a thick consistency and leaves your hands a bit sticky. I have to say I am not a massive fan of this hand cream.

Boost Yourself Body Cream, this is also by My Little Beauty. This product has a similar consistency as the hand cream. It has more of a flowery scent but besides that, the formula is really similar. Again this product isn’t for me, I honestly don’t think I will get much use out of it.

Mercy Handy Holy Mint Tooth Paste. This is the only product I haven’t tried yet but I will give a go. Its 98% natural and its made it  Paris!

The Box also came with inspirational cards, with themes like “Unleash your inner creative genius” or “Train yourself to be Happy”. I like details like this, them make you stop and reflect about your life which is something that I don’t normally do but really want to make it into a habit.

The box also came with this cute little snood. I don't think I´ll get much wear out of it now as it is absolutely freezing, but I can definitely see myself wearing it through spring.

As a whole I really enjoyed Januarys My Little Box, can’t wait to see what Februarys edition will be like.

Are you into subscription boxes? If so, which ones have you tried?

My Top 3 Favourite Blushes

Blush is an absolute makeup bag staple for me. It can instantly make you look healthier and put together with a single swipe. But the wrong blush or too much blush can instantly make you look like you have just runaway from the circus.

Today I wanted to share with you my top 3 blushes.

Top 3 favourite blushes

Hourglass ambient lighting blush in Dim Infusion. This blush is the reason why I fell in love with Hourglass as a brand. It looks so natural and glowy on the skin without having a single speck of glitter. The powder is so finely milled it doesn’t feel powdery at all. The blush shade is perfect for the day time and it looks beautiful in the pan.

Lancome Cushion Blush Subtil in 032 Splash coral. This is a recent purchase but I immediately feel in love with it since the first application. I wasn’t totally convinced with the cushion hype that was going on, but anything designed by Lisa Eldridge (creative director of the the brand) is worth a try. It applies really smoothly and evenly, I normally use a stippling blush and the blend it out either with fingers or a Beauty Blender. I love the juicy finish it gives and the longevity, it lasts longer that powder blush.

Hourglass Surreal Light blush in Surreal Glow. This is the kind of blush that doesn’t look that appealing on the pan but then looks absolutely gorgeous on the skin. This is by far the most natural looking blush I own. In my opinion the Surreal glow formula is slightly better than the ambient lighting formula. Unfortunately, they only sell it individually, you can only get hold of this blush by purchasing the palette.

Let me know what blush you can't live without!

My Perfect Lazy Sunday

Like most people I work Monday to Friday and I have to wake up pretty early in the morning. Thats why on Sunday I like to take it slow.

I normally have a lie in on Sundays and when I feel like I can't sleep any more I make myself breakfast, which normally consists in coffee and a pain au chocolat. I then eat my breakfast in bed whilst I watch Netflix.

Then I like to take a few minutes and think about new blog posts I would like to write or what pictures I would like to upload on instagram the week to come. I just feel that I think more clearly on Sunday mornings. I love to jot down all my blog ideas in this lovely notebook from Anthropology

One of my absolute favourite things to do on Sunday morning is to take a stroll through the park. As I live in west London I always go to High Park. I absolutely love how green and full of life it is.

After lunch I like to relax and read a book or watch a movie. Currently I'm reading The Little Book of Hygge.

At some point a get my Kikki K planner and plan my week ahead. I like to write down all the little tasks I need to do.

I also tend to do a face masque on Sundays in order to look my best for Monday. I´m really liking the Glamglow SuperMud Clearing Treatment at the moment.

Nail polish and Sunday evenings go hand in hand, there is nothing better than a fresh coat of nail polish to prep you up for the start of a new week. This week I went for Maki Me Happy from Essie.

Comment bellow and let me know what you think makes a perfect Sunday?

Instant Look in a Palette by Charlotte Tilbury

I have added another palette to my collection, even though I didn’t really need it but I have no self control and bought it anyway.

So to feel slightly less guilty I though it would be a great idea to review it on the blog, hoping it can justify my compulsive shopping.

Charlotte Tilbury Instant look in a palette in Natural Beauty

Charlotte Tilbury has made available her Instant Look in a Palette in Natural Beauty and has come up with a second palette in Seductive Beauty.

The Instant Look in a Palette contains three eye shadows, a swish and pop blusher, a highlighter and a bronzer.
This is the perfect little palette for people that prefer to do their makeup on the go.
It´s also the perfect travel companion, add some brushes, foundation, mascara and a lipstick and your good to go.

The eye shadows are lovely, same quality as her eye shadows quads. There is an eye brighter shade aimed to brighten up the area, a slightly shimmery champagne shade and a matte brown. They are the perfect everyday colours to wear when you want to look put together but you don’t want anything crazy. I love the shade selection but I have to admit I would have preferred to have a fourth dark brown shade to tie up the look.

The highlighter and bronzer are the same as in the Filmstar Bronce and Glow palette.
The bronzer has a slight shimmer going through nothing too harsh and lovely to wear. The highlighter is amazing; I use it practically every morning. Love these two, find out more about the Filmstar Bronze and Glow palette here.

The blush is also really nice. I would have preferred it to be slightly bigger as its difficult to fit a blush brush. But apart from that I really like the shade and the finely milled formula.

The instant look in a palette is the perfect product if you want to discover Charlotte Tilbury makeup without splashing out too much as you get a great selection of her products.
