Eyes have always been
very important to me. When doing my makeup, I always try to emphasize them as much
as I can. But my eyes have always been an area of concern. My under-eye area is
very dark and blue, and doesn’t really improve with water or sleep. When I was
just starting out with makeup I would layer foundation, concealer and powder
and it would always end up looking like a cakey mess. Still to this day I haven’t
found anything to completely mask the dark blue shade under my eyes but I have
found the perfect products to leave the area smooth and cake free.
I have been using the
Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream for years now and has helped a lot. It works
amazingly well under makeup but the only thing it provides is hydration. Until
recently that was enough for me, but now that I have reached my mid-twenties I
think it’s time to experiment a bit more with other eye creams that contain
antiaging properties.
One day I was feeling particularly
adventurous and decided to buy the Kiehl´s Creamy Eye Treatment and the Origins
Age-Defense Eye Cream with White Tea.
First I bought the
Origins eye cream mainly because it contains spf 20 and that is something that
you rarely see in eye creams. I was a week away from my trip to Mallorca and I
thought it was the perfect timing. The eye cream contains antioxidant-rich
white tea and edelweiss which is know to protect against pollution and UV.
From first application
I wasn’t impressed with the product, the formula is very dry and made my
concealer cake up like crazy. After a few days I tried layering it over a more hydrating
eye cream and it worked wonders.
The Kiehls Creamy Eye
Treatment is one I wanted to try out for a while as it has really positive
online reviews. This eye cream contains avocado oil, Beta-carotene which is an
antioxidant and shea antioxidant.
I found this eye cream
very think and nourishing, it sinks in very quickly into the skin so it doesn’t
leave the area feeling oily. At first I thought this cream was to thick to use
in the morning and I was worried how it would perform under makeup. I still
think that the Bobbi Brown works slightly better under makeup but this one does
have more benefits to it.
I am currently
layering both eye creams and I’m very happy with the end result. It is still to
early down the line to say if I will repurchase both items, as it is an
expensive combination but I think the Origins eye cream will be with me at
least through spring and summer.
