I am a big
fan of Hourglass and when I saw the promo pictures for the new Ambient
Lighting Edit in Surreal Light my heart skipped a beat.
I was
equally as excited as soon as I found out that I could pre-order the palette
through the Space NK website.
And finally I have this palette in my life and I have had the chance to play
with it a bit so I could share my thoughts with all of you.
The palette
contains 5 powders:
·
1
finishing powder in surreal light
·
1
bronze powder in surreal Bronze light
·
2
Blushes one in Surreal Glow and the other one in Surreal Effect
·
1
Highlight in Surreal Strobe light
Lets first
talk about the packaging. I totally fell in love with the marble effect case
and gold letters the first time I saw it. But seeing it face to face I was kind
of let down by it. It looks lovely in pictures but in real life it looks to
much like plastic for my taste. I think I preferred the old packaging. But to
be totally honest, this isn’t a big issue for me.
The powders
are better than I imagined. The quality of the powders in this palette is
better in my opinion than the ones I have tried previously.
The Finishing
powder in surreal light in very light, not powdery at all and leaves a lovely
finish on the skin.
The
highlighter is a dream, it’s the perfect subtle highlighter to wear to work, to
school or simply to run errands. It´s not glittery at all and has a lovely
subtle shimmer.
The blushes
are adorable, my favourite one is Surreal Glow as it gives you a natural
healthy flush to the cheeks. Love it!
The bronzer
is also really nice, very similar to the other Hourglass bronzers, but it is
quite light. I don’t think it would work if you have a tanned skin tone.
Even though
I already own the the previous Ambient Lighting Edit Palette I don’t regret
buying this one. The powders are very different and the blushes are better in
the Surreal Edit. The palette is quite pricey retailing for £69.00 but worth it
in my opinion.
Its great to travel with, great quality powder and really nice colours.
If you like the Hourglass powders you will definitely love this palette.

DeleteHourglass is such a gorgeous brand and especially love their highlights. I only have one but it's a favourite as it's so subtle and not too overbearing.
ReplyDeleteGreat post.

This palette is all kinds of right, I don't need anymore Hourglass powders but I'm going to get this for my mum as a gift!

I actually didn't pick this up because swatching them in person, I realised most of the shades were not for my skin tone. It's really pretty to look at though - maybe one day I'll finally get one of their LE palettes haha - I've actually only ever ended up buying their single products so far!
