Transitioning into Spring: Makeup Edit

It is finally starting to look like spring in the UK. The days are longer and the sun is finally shinning. This time of year I always tend to pack away my chunky sweaters and monochrome clothes and take out much lighter and colourful ones. I’m pretty basic during autumn/winter but absolutely love colour the rest of the year.

I also tend to change my makeup game a bit.

First I stop relying on my foundation´s SPF and crack out the sun cream.
My favourite at the moment is the Kiehl´s ultra light daily UV defence. I really like the consistency and the fact that it doesn’t leave a white cast on the face. It sinks in pretty quickly into the skin without it being to heavy or sticky.

During this time, I also tend to wear lighter foundations. I feel that with the sunshine, heavier and cakey foundations tend to show more therefore I normally opt for a skin like foundation that even out my skin tone. I have been liking the DiorCushion Forever foundation. It evens out the skin tone while letting your skin look like skin.

I also like my makeup to look fresh and dewy, I recently started using CharlotteTilbury´s Wonder Glow and I’m quite enjoying it. I layer it under foundation and it gives a subtle golden glow.

Adding to the glow I really enjoy using liquid highlighters, but more so in spring and summer. I just feel that powder products tend to be quite visible under natural light therefore I like substituting it for liquid highlighters that also add a touch of dewiness to the skin. My favourite at the moment are the HighBeam and Sun Beam from Benefit.

Lastly I also tend to switch matte lipsticks for those with a bit more sheen or a light gloss. I think it looks amazing in the warmer months.

  3. I feel like sun cream is so important these days, but sometimes it's hard to find the right one because it gives you a particular smell messing up with your fragrance or it's too oily messing up with your makeup!! That sun beam is amazing for daily use because it looks too natural, I personally love it.

Thanks for sharing, love your blog!!

  4. For me, I tend to wear lighter makeups this time of year because it's starting to get too hot. I also add (or try to) sunscreen to my makeup routine but sometimes I fail at it, so I use products that are at least SPF30. I know I should also stop relying on SPF on foundations but if I apply sun cream then foundation or bb cream my makeup turns into a mess sometimes. Also, gloss and light lipstick shades are a must!

I've heard good things about Benefit High beam and Sunbeam I should really try it out!

  5. The Khiels sunscreen sounds amazing, I love it when it does not leave a white cast on the face. Sunscreen is essential now that the weather is changing and we must use it regularly.

  6. I use SPF all year round, but I tend to switch to lighter colored lipsticks with a glossy finish as well. The Clinique Sheer Chubby Sticks are great, I am wearing Heftiest Hibiscus at the moment.

  12. I love products with SPF ad Kiehl's is a very good brand! I normally use SPF 100, but depending on the weather I go for 50 (if it's winter and not so sunny). But spring arrived, and I love my makeup to be dewy, so this Charlotte Tilbury's wonder glow! Would love to buy it! Hope you have a nice week!

  14. I have been reaching for cream and liquid highlighters as well as I find them to be more natural and isn't as harsh under the sunlight. I have been itching to get a cushion foundation and I have my eyes on the one from Bobbi Brown.

  19. Liquid and cream highlighters are perfect for spring and summer! I find I reach for lip glosses much more in the spring and summer, as well as opting for corals rather than berry shades. I've just pulled out my spring and summer lip options, I'm really excited to start using them. Xx

  25. What a lovely post! I tend to be quite minimalistic in terms of my make-up during spring and summer. That is mainly because where I live (Dubai) weather gets so hot that almost everything on your face slowly melts down lol I love your picks!
