When I first heard about the Flavanone Mud mask I was quite intrigued as it seemed very different to ordinary mud masks.
There is an extensive explanation of how the mask works on the Niod website, I won’t copy and paste it, I will just try to explain it briefly before I share my experience. If you would like to read about it in detail click here.
This mask’s main target is to decongest the skin without stripping, and does so in a three phases (Purifying phase, Protective phase and Responsive phase)
In the purifying phase, the mask breaks down impurities and increases oxygen supply removing surface impurities, cosmetic build-up and excess sebum is solubilized and removed.
The protective phase introduces technologies that offer a physical shield against external build-up and reduces inflammation caused by environmental factors.
The responsive phase fights against environmental congestion factors and helps maintain healthy younger looking skin.
This is all fine and dandy but does it really work?
After the first application you can feel your skin smoother, I also felt that my blackheads had been reduced but not eliminated. After rinsing you are supposed to feel a tingly sensation on your skin, that is an acid that is supposed to be protecting your skin. I didn’t feel the tingly sensation the first time I used the mask but I have been feeling it since. This mask is supposed to also have long term benefits but of course I don’t think I can comment on it as I have only been using the mask for a month.
It does have a strange smell, and the packaging isn’t the most convenient or hygienic. But I do find the “science” behind this mask quite interesting and I will definitely continue using it.
This mask is meant to be applied in a very thin layer and left on the skin for 10 minutes, once a week. They also recommend to use the accelerated method which is using it once a day for 5 days followed by a weekly maintained application. I still haven’t tried the accelerated method purely because I keep forgetting too.
What is your favourite mud mask?
I have my eyes on this but it's pricey! Good to know that you have good experience with it.
ReplyDeleteI felt like it has cleared up my skin quite a bit, I think its worth the price tag. I have tried other masks that have been more expensive and really didn't to anything to my skin :(
DeleteI love NIOD products. I am yet to try this mask, but it sounds really nice xx

It sounds like something to give a go at least. I wouldn't mind trying the acceleration method. Though I'm not sure I'd be able to remember too hehehehe
