Putting Glamglow to the test

When I first heard about Glamglow and its Hollywood origin I immediately wanted to try it out. I searched google high and low for reviews and the majority were all very positive, I was sold!

Glamglow face masks spring lilies review

Today I wanted to share with you my experience with the Glamglow masks as not everything is as good as it seems.

Glamglow masks retail for about £39.00, which is quite expensive for the 34g a tub contains. Luckily they also do travel size tubs which are more affordable and lets you try out the product before committing to the full size one.
I like the packaging but I do realize that having a face mask in a tub isn’t the most hygienic.

Glamglow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate treatment. This is the first mask the brand launched and the one known for its tingly sensation. To be honest, I was expecting the tingling sensation to be more intense.
After drying, the mask becomes an exfoliator once it comes in contact with water. It has tiny micro beads to help exfoliate the skin. I’m not going to lie; I wasn’t very impressed with this face mask. I am not a fan of physical exfoliators and my face felt very tight and dry after.

Glamglow Supermud Clearing treatment. I was most excited about trying this mask. Online reviews indicated you could actually see how it removes the gunk from your pours. I of course needed to try that out for myself. What actually happens is that the mask becomes porous in certain parts of the skin and it may seem like its “doing something” (see embarrassing picture bellow) but to be honest the black heads on my nose are still there.  This mask feels very tight once it has completely dried. In a similar way to the Youthmud, it left my skin feeling very dry.

Glamglow Flashmud Brightening Treatment. This mask also contains micro beads. Your meant to apply the product it in circular motion and then leaving it for 20 minutes until the products becomes transparent. Again, I have the issue with manual face scrubs, I’m just not a fan but if you’re into your face scrubs you might enjoy this one. It doesn’t leave your face feeling tight nor dry but I didn’t see my face any brighter after using it.

Glamglow Dualcleanse Treatment. This mask also contains micro beads, I know shocker. After the mask dries it turns into oil when contact with the skin. This mask is also much gentler than the Youthmud and Tinglexfoliate, and doesn’t leave your face feeling dry.

Glamglow Thirstymud hydrating treatment. This is an okay hydrating mask with a nice coconut scent. It feels nice on the skin but in all honesty I think you can get similar products from the high street.

All in all, I am not impressed with the Glamglow masks, I do think they are slightly overpriced based on the results they deliver. But like always this is my opinion and you might absolutely love these masks, that’s the beauty about everybody being different.

Let me know if you have tried these mask and what you think about them.

  1. Thanks for your honest thoughts on Glamglow. It's so annoying when you spend a fortune on products only to find their are better or equally good products on the high street. I have been looking for a deep mud cleanser and a brightening product as my skin has been so bad recently - need some sunshine! If you have any recommendations please let me know 😘

  2. I have zero luck with GlamGlow masks but thankfully I've tried deluxe sample sizes instead of spending a fortune on full sizes. The only GlamGlow product that I truly enjoy is the ThirstyMud Foam Cleanser. Thank you so much for an honest review!

    1. I have never tried their cleansers, I might give that one a go. Thanks for the recommendation!

  3. I had a similar experience, I heard a lot of celebrities talking about these masks as a lifesaver but I found the Tingleexfoliate one really drying! I would consider trying one of the cool silver peel-off ones though.

    1. That one looks very cool, but after trying 4 of their masks and not really falling in love with any I don't know if I would buy another one of their masks.

  4. I haven't tried these masks and it's good to know that these do not work for everyone since there was a craziness last year about these and everyone was 'nominating' them as best face masks. Thank you for your honest review.

    1. They are definitely not for everyone. The Youthmud ans Supermud would irritate dry and sensitive skin. The other two masks are more mild and could potentially suit more skin types but I don't think they are worth the expensive price tag.

  5. I've also been wanting to try glamgow forever- it's just so pricey and facemasks are such a risk when you have quite sensitive skin! Thanks for giving such an honest review- I may just avoid them now!

    1. If you have sensitive skin I would recommend to stay away from the Youthmud and Powermud, they are quite irritating even on my skin which is normal to oily.

  6. Really appreciate your honest thoughts on this range, hun! I always thought that these are just so over-priced, even if they were effective I think that there are many cheaper alternatives out there that do exactly the same thing. I never pay more than a tenner for a mask! I would love to try these out one day, but not for that price! Thanks for sharing your honest review, darling. <3 xoxo

  9. I have never been super in to the Glam Glow range. They are just so expensive for the product, and I find a lot of them don't do much. Thanks for the honest review!

  13. Thanks for the honest review! I've been thinking that I would want to try them, but I don't see how they could do anything different from a normal mask.

  15. Great review. Like you, I too had heard about good things about the Glam Glow masks. I was shopping around for a mask a couple of weeks ago(ended up just getting the sephora single face masks) because the Glam Glow masks were more than I wanted to spend at the moment. But will keep your review in mind if and when I do decide to try out the brand myself.

  17. It's such a shame that these masks didn't work out for you and I would expect a lot more from them for the price. I haven't tried the Glam Glow masks before but I think I will be giving them a miss. x

  18. I heard mixed reviews about these masks. Some people loved them others, didn't like them very much. Honestly, I have never tried them out at all and I don't think I will since I have very sensitive skin. I loved your review and photos :) http://www.bauchlefashion.com/2017/03/how-bazaar-street-style-accessories.html
